Adventure Sailing Weekends – UK - France-UK
We are pleased to be able to offer a fantastic range of adventure sailing weekends, which include the opportunity to sail from the UK to France and back. Our mile building sailing weekends to France are by far the most popular, giving you 2 x 60nm passages, 2 x TSS crossings, an overnight passage, and the opportunity to visit one of the beautiful towns on the northern coast of France.

On a typical adventure sailing weekend to Dieppe, France you can expect….

Friday
Arriving at 7.30pm at Sovereign Marina, you will board Ruby May, where you will settle into your cabin and meet your crew mates for the weekend.

Following a full safety briefing, we will slip lines and lock out (approx. 8.45pm). Heading due South, we will commence the agreed watch system at 11pm, allowing plenty of rest on the overnight passage.

Wrap up warm and enjoy the fantastic experience of an overnight passage. Crossing the TSS is something that many sailors are yet to experience, and it’s a great opportunity to put into practice your knowledge of the COLREGS.

On a clear night, you can expect to see shooting stars and experience the thrill of sailing by stars.
The passage should take approx. 10 – 12hrs.

Saturday
Arriving early on Saturday morning (approx. 8am). Crew often choose to have a few hours sleep before surfacing to enjoy the joys that Dieppe has to offer.

Dieppe Marina has excellent facilities, including warm showers, a laundry, and even a yacht club, where you can expect a warm welcome!

We will need to pay a visit to the Ferry Port to officially ‘check into France’, crew are then free to explore the popular French seaside resort as they choose.

On Saturday mornings there’s a fantastic market, one of the finest on the north coast of France – offering a great variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as clothes, crafts and all sorts of other wares. Dieppe is home to a castle, a land train, a beautiful pebble beach, and plenty of fabulous restaurants and bars.

In the early evening, crew can choose between dinner aboard, or we will eat in one of the restaurants adjacent to the marina (we will provide a credit of €25 per person if we eat ashore).

After a brief visit to the Ferry Port to ‘check out’ of France, we will then head to bed, before setting off in the early hours, bound for Eastbourne.

Sunday
Our passage home will typically be very relaxed, with crew taking turns on the helm and enjoying a day time passage across the TSS. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on route.

We have often seen lots of wildlife on our daytime passages, including dolphins, porpoise, gannets, tuna and even whales, so it’s well worth keeping a good look out for some of the incredibly marine life that live in the English Channel.

We typically aim to arrive back into Eastbourne by 4pm, where crew will need to clear their cabins and help clean the boat before heading home.
You will go home with plenty of memories, new friends, and an experience of a lifetime
